Op donderdag 4 februari hebben zes geselecteerde leerlingen van de SO/VSO St. Jan Baptist uit Kerkrade voor het eerst in hun leven ervaren hoe het is om met een echte duikuitrusting te water te gaan. De activiteit werd geheel belangeloos mogelijk gemaakt door de Kerkraadse duikschool Rebeldivers’, die vindt dat duiken ook toegankelijk moet zijn voor kinderen met een beperking.

Dr. Mike Sisson has been the principal of Hammond Baptist Grade School for over 30 years. He has had a large part in seeing hundreds of young men and women further their education at HBGS. Two years ago Dr. Sisson suffered a major heart attack and had to step down from serving full-time as principal of HBGS. He was put on the heart-transplant list and he has spent the last two years at a hotel in Madison, Wisconsin waiting for a new heart at the Madison, WI VA hospital. Dr. Sisson has continuously suffered infections over the past few years and because of the infections his body will not accept a different heart. Dr. Sisson, his doctors, and his family have decided that he should spend his last days here on earth with his his family at home in Schererville, IN. This video is the recording of Dr. Sisson’s return back from Madison, WI to Schererville, IN on 2/18/11. All three current principals of Hammond Baptist Schools helped escort Dr. Sisson and his wife back home in an RV. On their way to Dr. Sisson’s house, they stopped by Hammond Baptist and all of the students made up signs and lined up on the street outside of the school to welcome him home. All of us will continue to pray for Dr. Sisson and his family!
