I met this lady who said she is a Missionary Baptist and growing up they did not mix with other Baptists. Why?

Maybe they only practise one sexual position.

Some Baptists consider themselves to be specialized. Missionary Baptists usually support a little group of Missionaries and believe in going door to door or evangelizing a little more than the other Baptists. They didn’t mix with other Baptists because they thought their way was the best and didn’t want to spend time “converting fellow Baptists”. Also some Missionary Baptists are a little prejudiced in that they can think other Baptists and religions are in sin because they have more “lenient values”.

There are at least 40 different sub groups of Baptists. While I have gone to church with the Mennonites (Anna-Baptists), Southern Baptists and Northern Baptists, I have never been to a Missionary Baptist Church. My experience shows that Baptists vary from very emotional Pentecostals to very rigid Fundamentalists. The Missionary Baptist Church not interacting with other Baptists suggests that they are Fundamentalists.

It’s mostly over differences in organization, rather than in doctrine. I don’t fully understand it myself.
