Im a Baptist myself, just really curious. From what I can tell not much at all except the Messianic Jew holds true to the festivals and traditions. And if theres not really a difference then why Baptist and not Jewish, right?

  1. Nooj Squibot says:

    that’s true, no real difference.

why dont all those jews just become baptist, right?

  2. ... says:

Messianic Jews are basically Christians who think they’re Jews-I.E, Jews who believe in the New Testament, but still act Jewish and identify themselves as Jews.

It should be noted that most Jews don’t consider Messianic’s to be Jewish.

  3. J.P. says:

Most Messianic Jews are Liars for Jesus. Literally fewer than 10% of “Messianic Jews” have any Jewish heritage or background (grew up Jewish, studied Jewish, had a matralinial Jewish heritage, etc). A majority are Baptists who adopt the trappings of Judaism to attempt to deceive and convert Jews.

  4. John says:

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Very good question but they still hold the pagan names and that is a VERY BIG DEAL TO YAH.

Gene 12:7 Then Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, … Isaiah 52:6 Therefore My people shall know My name; Therefore they shall know in that day That … Will Yahweh’s people be calling on His name at that time, in this age?

YAHWEH IS A …. HEBREW ELOHIM.

Even if one was to elevate to calling YAHWEH, ….ELOHIM>THIS IS THE HEBREW NAME FOR HIS TITLE.
HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO POSSESS THIS TITLE.
HIS NAME IS ABOVE EVERY NAME IN THE UNIVERSE.
GIVE HIM PRAISE IN THE HOUSES!!!
    HALLELU YAH!!!
    PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!

Baptists are not Messianic Jews and Messianic Jews are not Baptists.
Messianic Jews are simply Jewish people (by birth or conversion) that accept the Messiah Christ.

    Good question…several bad answers!

There is a huge difference between the two. It’s more than just the Sabbath and the Feast Days.
As a Messianic Jew, I have recently found that there is Jewish blood in my family, I don’t follow any of the christian festivals like xmass or easter. These are totally pagan and to be avoided. I live by the Torah first and for most. Mans teachings, unless they are in line with the Torah, are just mans teachings and are useless.

The Sabbath is a vital part of it, as are the names that are used. The letter J wasn’t even invented until the 15th century! So the name of jesus can’t be the name of the Messiah.

We are different from the Jews in the sense that we don’t believe that we need to live by the Talmud and many of the other traditions of Judaism. Our congregation doesn’t have a Rabbi or a minister, we have teachers. There are many wonderful traditions that are in the Jewish community that we use in our services, but this doesn’t mean that we have a synagogue or practice Judaism like a traditional Jewish synagogue does. Does this make us wrong or right…no, just different.

  9. D Aravah - JBC says:

answer: The only major difference is practices. That’s it. The beliefs are the same = Jesus/Yeshua is a divine savior that will return, heaven and hell and only Christians/’messianics’ make it to heaven

None of those are Jewish beliefs.

Very few ‘messianics’ were ever Jewish at any point in their lives. A Christian minister cannot convert someone into Judaism. “messianic’ is NOT a branch of Judaism. They are Christians. Many of the “messianic’ groups were founded by Baptists are are funded by Baptist organizations:

Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League objected to the [Southern
Baptist] Executive Committee recommendation of turning a mission to Jews over to the SBC’s mission boards.

“The idea of the Southern Baptist Convention using a so-called Jewish messianic group–which misrepresents two faiths–to target Jews for conversion is disgraceful, insulting and dangerous,” Foxman said in 2005.

Foxman decried “continuing efforts by the Southern Baptist Convention to target Jews for conversion.” He termed the Southern Baptist Messianic Fellowship “part of a deceptive movement that falsely claims they are interested in Jewish practices when the real goal is to convert Jews to Christianity.”

For Southern Baptists, however, it is simply a strategy for evangelism. Ed Stetzer, who now works for LifeWay Christian Resources, has said Messianic congregations are an example of a “missional” church, in that they are “indigenous to Jewish culture.”

The SBC passed a resolution in 1996 pledging to “direct our energies and resources toward the proclamation of the gospel to the Jewish people.”

In the document ‘What Evangelical Christians should know about Messianic “jews” , Martin Meyer, founder of ‘jews’ FOR JESUS: reveals:

‘We are an arm of the local **Church**. We are Evangelists. We are accountable to the Church. As we win and ***convert*** Jewish people, we urge them to take their place in a local Evangelical **Church**, or establish a congregation. Our duty is to aid the **Church** at large and to gather in the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel.’

The handful that were actually Jewish are apostates (that’s not an honorable title, btw): A Jew that becomes a Christian is an apostate Jew, no longer considered part of the Jewish community or religion. They cannot be called up to read from the Torah in synagogue. They cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery. They cannot marry an Orthodox Jew and they cannot immigrate to Israel as a Jew.

When it is said a person remains Jewish regardless of converting, that is actually a statement to their detriment. The full statement should be- “a person remains liable to be judged under Jewish law even after converting to another religion.” Thus a Jew who follows another religion would be punished with kares (spiritual excision) after death for being an apostate and abonding Judaism.

    Apostates
A Jewish child raised as a Christian, Father Daniel, aware of his parents’ heritage, came to Israel and applied to become a citizen of Israel under the Law of Return. The Israeli Supreme Court denied his application, stating that since he converted, he was no longer a Jew

Israel made the same decision concerning a so-called Messianic “Jewish” couple. The Beresfords from South Africa tried to become citizens of Israel under the Law of Return. They were denied on the same basis as Father Daniel.

The state of Israel grants Aliyah (right of return) and citizenship to Jews, and to those with Jewish parents or grandparents who are not considered Jews according to halacha, e.g. people who have a Jewish father but a non-Jewish mother. Specifically excluded were any “person who has been a Jew and has voluntarily changed his religion.” An Israeli Supreme Court decision in 1989 ruled that Messianic Judaism constituted another religion.[86] The Israeli government therefore rejected as a matter of course applications from Messianic Jews under the Law of Return.

On April 16, 2008, the Supreme Court of Israel ruled in a case brought by a number of Messianic Jews with Jewish fathers and grandfathers. Their applications for Aliyah had been rejected on the grounds that they were Messianic Jews. The argument was made by the applicants that they had never been Jews according to halacha, and were not therefore excluded by the conversion clause. This argument was upheld in the ruling
