Yesterday occurred a terrible aircrash in my country, the Netherlands, to a Turkish airplane. 9 people died and there are many severely wounded.
Now one of our papers writes that members of the “Westboro Baptist Church” will come over here to “disturb the funeral” because they think the aircrash is a punishment of God.
What is this Westboro Baptist Church? Does it have many members? And what is their line of “reasoning”?
Simply put, WBC members are effed in the head
They preach hatred, not the love of God
They have no reason. They’re headed by a man who gets off on being hated because it validates his hatred of everyone else.
Because they are evil.
The Westboro Baptist church are a group of people who are, well let’s see how I can put this….insane.
They take scripture and use it as a battering ram against anyone they choose to use it against, whether it’s relevant or not. They are full of hate, full of condemnation, and have no love of God in them. If I had to go a step further, I’d say they are satan disguising as church people, to give true Christianity a very, very bad name.
I’m furious at the horrible things they do, using Jesus’ name, or the words of God from the bible.
Netherlands huh? Feed them some mushrooms, maybe they’ll come to their senses.

They are insane, and their view on God, is insane. The have created a God in their own image, which is evil, and they worship it day and night without end.
If they listened to Jesus, truly, they would not dare call themselves Christians. They hate Jesus, and everything He taught.
They think every disaster is an act of God’s direct judgment on whoever was in the disaster. They don’t listen to Jesus, Who posed the question, “Do you suppose these were greater sinners?” And answer them, by telling them no, in the case of the bridge collapse in that day. Jesus corrected their wrong doctrine, and he would do the same with the insanity of WBC, and He will do so.
Christians distance themselves from these people as far as they can, as far from anyone naming the name of Christ, and fighting against him. Just like the crusades. The evil things done in the name of Christ, will be righted someday.
They are a bunch of sick people who have at a minimum taken the Word of God completely out of context. They need prayer.
I am so sorry for the people who had loved ones hurt or killed on that plane. My prayers are with them.

The westboro baptist church is a false church, they do not follow the teachings of the scriptures. The fact is… there are only about 70 members or so, this is a single family and a few decieved close friends of this family. Several members of the family have law degrees and what they are attempting to do is to incite hatred and hopefully violence or to have people tell them they can not protest or speak in public so they can scream their freedom of speech is being violated or if someone gets violent towards them they can file lawsuits against the individuals or perhaps the city or state….its a money scheme, they want to cause as much problems as they can hoping to be able to file lawsuits. They are a black eye on any people of faith, it is people like this that cause alot of the misunderstandings about Christians. They dont have a clue about Gods word if they did they would remember…..

Westboro Baptist Church has no line of “reasoning”. They are a horrific and hateful group. If they do come, ignore them; they’re daft, but they can be aggressive.
I feel absolute sadness when accidents like airplane crashes happen, even if its no one that I know that is involved.
I have no idea why these Baptists have a lack of sympathy and concern for the feelings and well-being of their fellow human survivors from the tragedy. The families are suffering irreplaceable loss and this religious group assumes to know the “mysteries,” of God and dismiss the EVIDENT message of compassion Christianity proclaims.
It sickens me.

As you said, they believe that it was an act of G-d. Thus, as G-d’s creations they have a duty to rejoice in all His actions, even bad ones. Furthermore, they believe that G-d was punishing people for sin via this crash, and that they should picket in order to inform people that if they don’t repent things like this will continue to happen.
They believe they are the true believers of Christianity, and they take everything from the bible as true. In which they are now christian fanatics. Most of the members are family members, and also lawyers who go to court to fight for the right of free speech, and some of the cases they win, go’s to funding their protest against non-believers.

They don’t care about anything on this earth apart from giving themselves notoriety. Despite what they say, they don’t care about God either. They want fame. That’s all.

They celebrate the deaths of American soldiers because they claim that the US is providing a safe haven for gays, and as such, anyone who defends the country is evil or something. They celebrate 9/11 for the same reason. Punishment from God. They protest everything because they have nothing in them but hate.
There will only be a couple people there. I don’t know what they have against those nine people, but really, they just hate everyone.

The westboro church are severe homophobics, who believe that every homosexuals death is a blessing from God. They protest at homosexual funerals and the funeral of United States soldiers, since America defends the rights of homosexuals.
If the Netherlands supports homosexual civil rights then Fred Phelps and the Westboro Church will be there picketing at the funerals of the recently deceased airline victims.

There’s more to them than meets the eye.
God is punishing us for not hating homosexuals as much as we should so he causes disasters. Their leader is a disbarred civil rights lawyer (oddly he lost his job for reasons that have nothing to do with homosexuality) named Fred Phelps. Before he went on this crusade he fought very, very hard for civil rights for blacks.
They are not alone in their beliefs but they are much more daring and vocal. They display irrationality in other things; their website actively insults visitors.

This behavior has won them few supporters. In fact it’s done the opposite; pretty much everyone except other extreme evangelists thinks he’s nuts.
I think he’s not nuts. The idea behind his church is not to be loved and win supporters. It’s to make people hate them, to shove the truth about evangelical “morals” in our faces. Unfair, but so far it seems to be working. Once a civil rights crusader, always a civil rights crusader.
Even in UK, we’ve heard of Westboro! They’re a bit, you know, not quite right! They were banned from coming to picket here, and the decision to ban them was supported by baptist churches and the evangelical alliance (which includes lots of different denominations). Despite the name, they are not affiliated to any baptist organisation. I saw them in a documentary, and it seems they have some disturbing beliefs about the power of their leader. And as for the size of the church, it may seem sizeable, but remember almost all the members of the church are related to the leader, including his 50+ grandchildren! I think they just listen to him, and he picks bits of the bible to fit his ideology. He doesn’t believe that God loves everyone, so I doubt he would feel much sympathy for crash victims.
